PEFCU is launching a new RSS feed. This feed will have news articles, financial education articles, fraud alerts, and other important content for the financially aware credit union member. PEFCU wants our members to be financially safe and smart, and we believe communication is key--that's why we think our RSS feed will help our members.
What is RSS?
News feeds (or RSS, Really Simple Syndication, feeds) let you know when new content has been put on a web page without having to visit that site to read the most current update or news. You can quickly scan the headlines for topics you are interested in, then only click the headlines of the stories you want to read. These are common for news, financial, industry-specific sites.
How do your read or subscribe to a feed?
To read your feeds, you will want a feed reader. Readers can be:
- browser readers: Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7, Opera
- web-based readers: iGoogle, MyYahoo!, Bloglines, FeedZilla, NewsGator, Microsoft Live
- desktop readers: FeedDemon, Newz Crawler, Newsfire, NetNewsWire
Browser and web-based readers allow you to view the news feed from any computer with an internet connection. Desktop readers are computer applications you download and install on your pc or mac and run from your own computer. Typically readers store several news feeds and can check them at various intervals; options vary depending on the feed reader.

Once you have chosen a reader, you will need to know the url (web address) of the feed you would like to read. You can get this by looking for the "feed icon" on a website you visit. This is the square, orange icon you see above and also in the top right-hand corner of this web page.
If you click on this image, you will be re-directed to the rss news feed. In the address bar at the top of your browser, you will see the address of the feed. You can then add this feed to your feed reader by simply copying and pasting the address into the reader.
Alternatively, you could also just bookmark the web address of the feed.
It's that easy. If you have questions on RSS feeds or how to read our RSS feed, click here to fill out this feedback form (putting your question in the additional comments area) and the email will go directly to our webmaster or you can call the contact center at 765.497.3328 or 800.627.3328.
