On the morning of June 22, students from William Henry Harrison, McCutcheon and Lafayette Jefferson high schools learned from NFL New Orleans Saints Quarterback and PEFCU Spokesperson Drew Brees that to overcome adversities like financial problems, they must work hard, commit themselves, and get the best education possible.
“Save. Save. Save. And live within your means,” said Brees. “Set a goal to save a certain percentage of your money every week and put it in a safe savings account. Down the road it will grow into something larger.”
Brees shared with the students his money-management experiences, both good and bad, and presented an authentic, autographed jersey to Natasha Morgan, Harrison High School senior, for her commitment to education through perfect attendance and to Nicholas Chew, a Jefferson High School student, for his outstanding essay about financial literacy.
“Whether these students join the workforce or attend college after high school graduation, their success depends upon their ability to responsibly manage their money,” said Bob Falk, PEFCU president and CEO. “At PEFCU, we’re committed to helping our youth reach their potential by offering special programs like this.”
PEFCU works with local schools and organizations to teach money management skills to area youth throughout the year. For more information about ways PEFCU can help your school or organization meet its financial literacy goals, please contact PEFCU at 765.497.3328 or 800.627.3328.
